Steal vs Splurge: Designer Swimwear

Let’s face it, spending hundreds of dollars on designer swimwear isn’t an option for most of us. With the current state of the economy, even going on a vacation takes months of planning and budgeting!  We’ve found some of the hottest styles and trends in designer swimwear, and will pair them with their affordable counterparts!

Shoshanna navy colored halter crochet one piece  retails for $188. Without a doubt, it’s absolutely gorgeous. We’ve found two affordable options in similar styles.

Shoshanna at ShopStyle

First up is the Spiegel crochet tank suit. It doesn’t feature the halter style top like the Shoshanna designer brand but the sleek lines are very flattering. What we do like about this option is the price…just $34!!

We found this ultra cute yellow monokini at Watersun.com. It exposes a bit more skin than the Shoshanna version. But were the Spiegel tank suit is more conservative – the Watersun monokini is her daring sister. It retails for just $90, not as cheap as the tank suit – but half the price of Shoshanna!

This white two piece by the Maya Signature Collection retails for $185. It’s a classic style so save for the designer label, we see no real reason to spend nearly two hundred bucks on it! We found our less pricey alternative from the Ujena company. It’s just $56

The Missoni print is probably one of the most recognizable pattern designs in the world. This 2 piece classic design retails for $385.  As much as we may adore Missoni…close to $400 on a few pieces of cloth and some strings?! Yeah – that won’t be happening! Yeah lets check the $30 option from our tried and true Forever21.com !

Ralph Lauren is the epitome of All-American fashion and style. From the Hamptons to the Valley – everyone is familiar with his classic style, polos and trademark signature. However this gold string bikini from the Ralph Lauren collection (which retails for $190) is begging to be out on a yacht in the South of France or the beaches of Rio De Janeiro! We still find it pricey at $190, but our friends at Ujena do a great job at providing the affordable alternative. There version retails for just $89
